my little chest of drawers

What a lovely(?) shade of purple. Paired with such a lovely(?) shade of lavender...

This little chest of drawers has been with me since college. It was the first piece of furniture I ever bought. It was already old and rickety when I bought it a shack of a store called the Swap Shop. Very classy. It was a sickly shade of pale green. And I was going through a phase of immense love for purple. Especially royal purple. This phase included a room with purple sparkly saris for curtains and white, silver and purple on the bed. With my daddy's help, I sanded the green away and painted it this glorious purple. I even chose this coordinating lavender for the inside of the chest and the insides of the drawers. And silver painted knobs. My goodness.

Fast forward a several years and my sweet Larkin comes along and he needs a changing table. Purple would not do, so I sanded my dear little chest of drawers down yet again getting ready to make it just right for his room. It looked a lot like this:
And almost eight years later it still looked a lot like that. In fact, it looked exactly like that. It went through many a diaper change for both children. Looking just. like. that. It now sits in our living room and I had decided that it really was time that I painted it. I was wandering through the home improvement store one day and passed by the "oops" paint. And unlike most passes by that cart, usually full of blecky tan, I found a beautiful color and bought it right away at the great steal of $5 for a whole gallon (not that I needed a whole gallon).

So, finally, after all these years of being neglected, my little chest of drawers has a new coat and I think she is quite happy...
