mr. lincoln

Part of our homeschool day included some Abraham Lincoln activities. We have spent time on Mr. Lincoln before, but I thought it would be fun to include some games on his birthday. We first played the Abraham Lincoln version of Memory (matching game). And then had a little fun with paper dolls. Mr. Lincoln appears in his union suit above. And here he is giving the Gettysburg Address...
Both of these were courtesy of the Dover Sampler. For those of you not already on their email distribution, each week they send an email with samples that you can download and print from their publications. I was particularly excited about the paper doll. We also have one of his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.
And although it may be a little late to get a book to read about Abraham Lincoln on his birthday, I still want to share two of our favorites that are great for young ones...Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books and Lincoln and His Boys. Happy Birthday Mr. Lincoln!

Mr. Lincoln has always been one of my favorite historical figures. I read a book in high school about him and Ms Mary--don't remember the name of it! Just remember I enjoyed it. Hope the little bird watchers had a fun day!
