birding

The kids and I are excited about this year's Great Backyard Bird Count. This will be our first year to participate. The count starts on Friday and ends on Monday. All you have to do is spend at least 15 minutes on one of the days observing birds in your own backyard. You then go online and enter the birds you observed. The link above gives great information about the count and lots of helpful links including regional bird lists and photos. The count is to help researchers learn more about bird populations and trends and gives those of us who love birds a good reason just to sit and watch them!

i don't know why, but earlier today i checked to see if you had a new post and was so disappointed. so i'm excited to read what is going on in your world! we might actually attempt this...although getting G&A to sit for 15 minutes without fighting *might* just be a world record...

i think i must really be missing you right now! :(

We have beautiful "red birds" in our backyard--not just a few but many--males and females! The red coloring of the males(i think) is extraordinary! I could watch them for hours. Have fun!

I've done this for two years now and just love it. Have fun! It's amazing to realize how much variety is out there.

when my daughter was little we use to do this too. we had such fun
i dont know if you get this too or not, but most of our birds were tree sparrows, and dark eyed juncos.
it seems those kinds are the stick around no matter what birds....

I am totally making a shirt that says "Real Boys and Girls Go Birding." Priceless.
