party like you're five

we had such a great time at larkin's birthday party yesterday. it was much smaller this year, but i may prefer that. the weather could not have been better if we had special-ordered it for the party. everyone stayed for a while and enjoyed socializing on the front porch while the kids played. it was so beautiful! and of course there was cake...
my favorite part is the black line that larkin drew down the left side of the cake. he was supposed to be drawing a line around the edge of the cake, but i guess he felt inspired. the cake is a red velvet cake without the red food coloring. quite yummy with buttercream frosting...
the race car pinata was a huge hit. literally. it took forever to get the candy to fall out. everyone loved it (and just as i thought, nobody complained about it having valentines candy in it).

happy sunday everyone!
