all you need is love

and popcorn. lucy started running a fever this afternoon so we decided to have movie afternoon. in this house movie=popcorn. needless to say, once i announced that we had no popcorn, the little ones (i can still call them that until larkin is five, right?) were more than disappointed. after calling the neighbors and searching the shelf hoping a bag had fallen out of the box and was waiting to be discovered, i had nearly given up. when, suddenly i remembered that we had some actual kernels. what? non-microwave popcorn? yes. and like a good little mama, i followed the directions on the jar and i must say, it turned out rather yummy...and with no complaints from the little ones.
also, on an otherwise gloomy day (it has rained since we got up this morning), spirits were lifted when i discovered this on the front porch...
and this was inside. i love me some jane austen.
also, while lucy was napping i completed a project that has been hanging around for a while. but, with all the gloom around here, photographs are just not working out. hopefully, i can post it tomorrow. have a good evening!

Angry Chicken posted a caramel corn recipe that's super easy and yummy. Just don't try what I did; I poured the caramel mixture over the UNPOPPED kernels and tried to microwave it all together. POP the corn first.

Great job on doing popcorn the "old fashioned" way! It really does take some skill to know when it's done and take it off the stove before it burns.

Oh girl! I do love to see the amazon box on my porch too. I like to wait til it's quiet in the house and sit down with some hot tea and see what's inside.

Oh yes, I love Jane Austin too! We recently rewatched Sense and Sensibility. Such a pleasure! Thank you for your nice comments on Sugar City! I love your photo of your baby's feet on the porch. So sweet!
