My, this has been a quiet week here on the blog. I have thought about posting, but every time I would think of something it seemed kind of boring. For me, sometimes when I read other blogs I get a bit overwhelmed and I feel a sense of pressure to post something amazing.
The truth is, in the past few weeks, my days have looked a lot like the photo above. By the way, Lucy took that photo with my phone and I was really impressed with the composition. I haven't created any amazing dishes, or sewn anything, or worn any outfits that would make you all drool, or made an amazing craft to make my home sparkle. And I am trying to be ok with that.
I do remember the day that this photo was taken. I was in a bit of a grumpy mood and I was being very short with the kids. And it made me feel horrible. After I sat and read to them and I got up from the couch, I felt a sense of peace. Kind of like I had a chance to start the day over.
The only thing my children have been concerned with me creating is time with them. Well, and meals. I think they care about me creating meals. But seriously, I am learning that, while crafting and baking and the like do fulfill me, knowing that my children are happy and feeling loved (or, as we call it around here, that their "mommy tanks" are full) fulfills me way beyond those things. And I am more than ok with that.

i really really really really really love love love love this post. and you.
yes it is good to do "nothing" sometimes ... and I love seing a glimpse of your boring week ... I wish it would have been with a cup of tea with Fi ... but hey soon again maybe ... and I love your wall art! your creativity never ceases to amaze me ... birds on a branch!
many hugs from LA.

Beautiful post Amy. Well said
good job, lucy! i agree, the composition is really great.
i can relate, i feel pressure to post amazing things too and it seems like "everyone else" has an unlimited amount of time to do so. i try to post things that i think will inspire my "blog friends" but too much inspiration can be bad too. i'll go through periods where i don't read too many blogs or look at pinterest, etc. it's very easy to go from inspired to feeling completely inadequate. but then those bad feelings can lead one to reassess priorities which is a good thing.
i so admire what you do: not just being a mom but educating your kids as well! if you only had time to do that i wouldn't blame you one bit. :)
anyway, loved this post.
I agree with all comments! Wish I were there!
i can totally relate. i try to find blessings in the little everyday things, like our lunch after church. it seemed silly to blog but in a few years I can look back on it and smile :) (plus i have really bad insomnia sooo i have time at night to blog HA!)
beautiful post!

Well...I'm new here to your cute blog, found you through Life Made Lovely today. But let me tell ya...after reading your post, I let out a big sigh of relief. This is how I feel very often too. Pages of ideas, blog post drafts, and future diy projects and pictures to take, but I talk myself out of it everytime when I read all the other amazing blogs out there and think "how do they have time? Aren't their kids running around all day? How do they have cute outfits, beautiful hair, tidy homes and amazing attitudes like every day?" Ugh. So a big THANK YOU, this post was more meaningful than you know.
nice to meet ya!
Jules :)
aw i love this post ... so calming ... and love the piece hanging above your couch also!
well, i love your blog. your posts are just right. encouraging and beautiful.
xo enjoy the rest of your day! xo
Beautiful photo and I can totally relate to this...overwhelming and competitive and when I start feeling like that I have to take a step back and analyze why I'm doing it, you know? I love honest posts like this. :) Visiting from Life Made Lovely!
Amy, I think we've all been there. I have always wanted the reason I blog and what I blog about to be yet another way to glorify God with what He's doing in and through me and my family ... Yet sometimes that pressure creeps in to "dazzle" my blog friends with something creative and stuff... Us girls can be so silly at times...
Oh and yeah... Your girls photo skills are rockin'!!
Love your art too!
