I would love to tell you that I gave my mama her Mother's Day gift on Mother's Day. But, I am not that cool. I just finished her gift right before we left for vacation. I wanted to be able to give it to her when we got there.
I have mentioned before about my love (and my mama's) for the local library. However, neither of us had an official library bag. A while back, Michael's mama gave me at least half a bolt of nice soft denim fabric and I immediately thought of all sorts of projects for it, including library bags.
I wanted to make one for my mama for Mother's Day, but I wanted to make it special so I had Lucy draw a picture for me to embroider on the bag.
I had this great blue fabric I decided to use for the lining, so I coordinated the embroidery threads with the colors in the fabric.
I used the same fabric for the tag with her name on it and attached it to the handle with some "yarn" I had leftover from a rug I made for Michael's mama three years ago!
Here are a few detail shots of the embroidery...
Lucy had fun helping create something for her Sitti and I love the special touch that her artwork added. My mama got a library bag and her granddaughter's artwork all rolled into one..definitely a win!
A couple of nights ago I noticed I had just enough of the lining fabric for another bag, so I started on one for myself! I am not going to embroider on mine, but I am trying to come up with a fun embellishment for it. Any ideas?

This is so stinkin' cute and special! Useful, meaningful and beautiful... I mean, what else could you want?
Yay! So glad to see the finished product. You did an awesome job chica. Love it.
We need craft night part two so you can work on your bag. :)
