finally

We finally have sun here! And it is no longer 40 degrees! I was so happy to be able to finally post some photos of Lucy's new twirls. However, Lucy was none to thrilled about the idea this morning. What gives? I practically had to beg her to give me a few minutes of her time for photos. Currently, the city is breaking up the street in front of our house to do repairs to the sewer system. (It is loads of fun, I tell ya.) Well, once I finally convinced Lucy to help me out, the front door was as far as she would go. She didn't want to be outside with all the noise. Plus, she is very upset about them, "breaking the woad." But, alas, I did manage to get a few shots. I was in a sewing frenzy a few weekends ago and made her several skirts in one afternoon using the oliver+ s pattern as a guide. The first photo is with her favorite new pair of sandals. She only agreed to come out if she got to wear them. Another one...
And last, but not least, my favorite...
I did a double layer skirt with this one. I love this fabric. You can tell more about it here. And don't you love how by this point (and mind you, only about seven minutes had passed from the first shot), lucy was over the whole ordeal?

A few weeks ago Michael asked me, "You're not going to wait until the last minute and decide you have to make Lucy an Easter dress are you?" To which I replied (with a roll of the eyes because how dare he ask that as if that is how I normally do things), "No. She is going to wear that skirt that I made her. I am not making a dress this year."

Yeah right. Pictures forthcoming.

those sandals are so cute--do they come in big girl sizes? very retro.

what an adorable model--i especially love her expression in the bottom photo. and i have to agree that the bottom skirt is my fave too, although the middle one reminds me of minnie mouse, and i love minnie. ok, they are all cute.

can't wait to see what you sewed her for easter!

Gorgeous skirts!!!

I just finished Coco's dress. I love that we're on the same timetable. :)

Her bunny, however, was botched beyond repair - as I sewed the ears on not yet turned right side out, pulled it apart, and then sewed them to what would be the inside of the head. Now the head is so torn up that there's really no salvaging it, so bunny #2 starts tomorrow.

What darling skirts! She is a doll. I am so sorry they are 'breaking her woad'...she looks quite distressed about it!

Cute skirts!! I made an apron out of the bird fabric that is in the last photo. It sure looks cute in skirt form. Lucy must be thrilled with her little twirly skirts :)
