handling the heat

we are leaving tomorrow for our family reunion. each year we have a family auction in which everybody brings items (handmade items, baked goods, bought goods, and some family heirlooms). on saturday afternoon the family gathers together and all the items are auctioned off. the money that is collected from the auction goes toward paying for the next year's reunion. it is a pretty neat idea and a lot of fun. well, one of my contributions is still in progress. i had hoped to finish it today, but alas, it will probably be after i publish this post.
i did finish the other item i am taking. i am filling a basket with some of my strawberry jam, my sweet pickles, some homemade cookies (more about those tomorrow) and this potholder and oven mitt i made this morning. sounds like a yummy basket, huh? maybe i can get a picture of it to post. here are the oven mitt and potholder. i love this fabric. i used it at christmas for my mom's gift

The auction sounds like such a great idea and I would be bidding on your basket of goodies for sure!

What a wonderful tradition to have with your family! Enjoy your time with them, and you have to show us what you bring home with you.
