skirting the issue

the issue? me complaining about how expensive skirts are and throwing in a "but, i could make that!" and then never doing it. not to mention that i bought some fabric for a skirt months ago and this book months ago and have done nothing with either one of them...until last night...and i whipped this little creation up in less than two hours...

i am very excited because this is my first skirt without a pattern. i just took my measurements and went by the guide in the book for making my own pattern. it came out a little big at first, but i altered it and now it is great. it took me forever to get a decent picture of it. it is cloudy here today making it nearly impossible to get a good shot. and while these are not great, i must move on. i have much creating to do today. larkin and lucy are with my parents, so i will be hanging out at the craft table most of the day...maybe all day and then it is on to girls night out at the movies. i hope you all have a great day, too!
*oh my! i just noticed that this is my 50th post! yay!

That is cute and no pattern!! Now make a longer prairie skirt for winter. I would like to try that myself.

What a great skirt! You did a really good job. Isn't that book so handy? I got it from the library this summer and loved it. I made the Half-circle wrap around skirt, excellent for twirling in. I want to buy the book though because there are so many good patterns (and variations) in there.
Btw, love your blog.

Oh wow, that looks fabulous! Perfect for fall. Making some skirts has been on my to-do list since spring.

Sweet skirt! You may inspire me to make a skirt, too -- I have lots of fabric and have that very book out of the library -- glad to see your success. Maybe . . . .

Oh it was a skirt that got me started me "really" sewing too. Yours is a beauty!

It's beautiful, and the colors are right "in" for the season.

I stopped by to alert you to the contest on my blog, http://brightmeadowfarms.blogspot.com/2007/09/contest-apple-pie-border.html.

You have been busy!

ME TOO. I bought the book and have lots in my fabric stash just waiting. I am a novice sewer so I have been a little afraid of making my own pattern (or maybe just a little lazy about it since cutting out is my least favorite aspect of sewing)

So, so, so cute - yet another book I have to have! You remain my inspiration - for making things - and for actually blogging about them!!!!
