I would like to start out by saying that I live in North Carolina. But I want there to be no mistake that I am a Georgia girl through and through (this could be a post all on its own, but we will save that for another day). That is why I was so happy to see this sign this weekend:
{I promise there was a blue sky behind this sign. I didn't have time to fool with the camera settings since we were stopped in the middle of the road!}
We went to the town of Helen for Michael's family reunion. This was the first time it was held in the mountains and the drive was gorgeous. I wish I could have taken photos of some of the scenes during the drive, but I was a little bit busy trying to keep my nausea to a minimum.
{The view from our room was beautiful. I found myself just sitting a staring out the window.}
During the first day of the reunion we took the kids to Anna Ruby Falls. For those of you who close enough to visit, you should definitely go. It is a very short paved hike up to the falls and it is gorgeous.
{This rock jutted out toward the paved walk and this tree had managed to grow in between it!}
We had a great time at the reunion. And all of our auction items did well. Now that we are back I do find myself craving boiled peanuts and Georgia peaches (there really are none like them). It is a good thing my mama is coming for a visit this weekend!

Helen, Georgia is so quirky and beautiful and awesome!
I know how you feel...I live in Nashville now and probably will for the rest of my life, but Alabama is HOME! I miss it so. I feel the same way every time we drive over the state line. Last time, "Sweet Home Alabama" came on the radio, miraculously, right as we crossed. True story.
wow it's so green! i've never had a georgia peach; a texas one but not from georgia (no doubt they are delicious!).
Have the peanuts in the frig ready to travel. Sorry no peaches(yet)! Love the photos of the area of Helen1 Love that place!
Wow! That takes me back! We had a family reunion in Helen GA when I was a kid. I still have very vivid memories...I love Georgia!
