do it carefully

i will go ahead and state that this post is mostly for my mama. she loves to color and she and i would color all the time when i was a little girl. also, most of you probably are not consumed with wonder about how well my children can color. that being said, i am going to share with you anyway. in the mornings as we are starting class we first listen to some music and then sit down and read a Bible story. my friend cindy told me about this wonderful book. the book came as part of a set of activity books as well as a coloring book that goes along with the Bible stories. each morning as i read the Bible story, the children color the corresponding picture. they are really enjoying it.
so, the main reason i am posting this is because i am amazed at how far larkin has come in his coloring. i know that just by seeing that photo, it may not seem all that great. but trust me, at the beginning of school, his idea of coloring involved one, maybe two colors and he would just color the whole page. now, please hear that i know the importance of letting a child experiment and "do their thing." but, he was mostly just grabbing a crayon and marking quickly just to get finished. but, it is also nice to see him think about his decisions and trying to color the way he has seen these things in nature. and just because i couldn't let this post end without sharing lucy's, here ya go...

He has come a long way! I love both pages. But what can I say--I just might be a bit prejudiced when it comes to accomplishment of these two!
