old friend

i do not have much to post today as i am feeling quite a bit under the weather. but this blog has been a little bit neglected in the last few weeks and i am determined to bring it back to life. so, just a quick note about an old friend...

when i was in college i decided i would buy a heating pad. my mama had one and my grandma had one and i figured there was a good reason. i was right. nothing beats it for sore muscles and aches and for a quick warming in winter. i can't brag enough about it. actually, i was just thinking of what to write about it, and i love it so much that it sounded ridiculous, so...

this is the heating pad i bought which came with a hideous synthetic cover. i immediately decided that cover just wouldn't do for me. i bought some cozy flannel and made a new cover. years later, it is well-loved and worn in. i have been using it today for my back which hurts from boxing on wii. seems i can avoid looking ridiculous today, huh?

Sorry to hear about your sore back but I'm with you, there is no better comfort for sore muscles than a good heating pad. I inherited my first one from my father-in-law when he passed on and wondered how on earth I had done without it for so long. It too had a hideous cover that had to be replaced. I had some red plaid flannel in my stash and made a new cover from that, I know it's unbelievable but I swear they work better with pretty flannel covers.

My current pad has a cover made from a men’s flannel shirt, it was inspired my Martha Stewart making pillow covers from men’s shirts.
