we had a great time at the family reunion this past weekend. michael and i have been back since sunday, but larkin and lucy have spent a couple of days at the grandparents and i am going to pick them up today. i have not had a chance to blog because i have been spending my time a) setting up our homeschool classroom (yes, i am going to homeschool...that is another post for someday soon) and b) standing in line at the return desk at ikea. yep. after two days, three trips to ikea, two of which included a visit to the return desk (one of which took 50 minutes) and one which involved going back to pick up an item that i paid for but apparently left at the return desk, we finally have a shelving unit for the classroom. i will not bore you with the details, but good grief, it should not have been that complicated.
anyway, more about the picture above. it is the rag rug i made for the reunion. it was about 2ft x 3ft. it brought a whopping $125 at auction. not bad. here is a shot of the basket of goodies i took...
the basket brought $36 dollars at auction and the cookies were a big hit! have a great rest of the week!

The rug and the basket are so neat, whoever purchased them are so lucky. You are truly amazing. I think we need a family reunion. I can't wait to see you.
Love, Aunt Deborah
that rug is awesome. ok, our next vacation together i'm bringing some rug pieces/strips and you are going to teach me how to do this...
hopefully that will still be this fall sometime. bring your homeschool classroom to the beach! :) xo.
I love the pink and gray combination of the rug, good job!! I have so many Ikea stories that I should write a book about it. Namely when we lived in France and had to buy and return things and converse with them in broken French! Fun times :)
I have had to brave the return counter at IKEA also, no fun. Great buy at the reunion. Someone was very lucky to get your basket of goodies.

I love your family auction - what a great idea!
the rug is so darling! i've pretty much given up on my rag rug, not looking nearly as nice as this.
of course and as always, mama johnston never fails to deliver wonderful products. don't get my wrong, your photography skills are impressive, but sometimes a photo just doesn't do justice to the amazing quality of your creations.
very nice items , and I liked your red and aqua quit too..very pretty.
Glad you had a good time at the reunion and were able to get some stuff done while the kids were gone. Bet you missed them though and are anxious to pick them up from Grandma and Grandpa.
