monday in pictures

ok, this shot was actually from sunday, but i can't resist that sweet face. below is the top of the table my dad just built from an old bowling alley lane. it is so cool! i sincerely believe my dad can build anything.
we took the kids back to the pond to feed the fish. they had a so much fun.
have you ever seen one of these? it is a polyphemus moth. they are huge. the wingspan was about five inches.
and while we are on creatures...we saw so many dragonflies by the pond. have you ever tried to get close to one? it is nearly impossible. i remember having to complete an insect collection in a display case when i was in high school. i could never catch a dragonfly. the day after i turned in my project, i found one--deceased, perfectly preserved next to the back door of my house. no kidding.
and a little something i am excited about...the field waiting to be filled with peanut plants. i can't wait for fresh boiled peanuts.

your hair! it looks awesome! and unlike mine it has TONS of bounce. i love that about your hair.

my husband would be your very best friend to get a taste of those fresh boiled peanuts after they are done. they are his favorite snack. me, on the other hand...well they gross me out. i think it's the smell--that and i didn't grow up eating them like he did. guess it's a north florida/georgia thing. :)

That top picture is so sweet! I LOVE boiled peanuts. I do believe I could eat my weight in them :-)

I know this is cruel, but when I was a kid I used to catch dragonflies and big bumble bees (the ones with the white spot on their head) and tie a thread around their body. We had our bugs on a leash.

Hmmm, boiled peanuts. I've never had them. Do you just eat them straight up or cook/bake with them?

I love the photo of you and your daughter, very tender and beautiful. The one of both children near the pond is great too. That's a wonderful bowling alley table! Our neighbors have one that's obscenely long (12 or 14 ft?) and I can't imagine how heavy it is, fortunately it's reinforced pretty well.
