and since my original plan was to make a chocolate cake, i did just that. a sour cream chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing. i couldn't keep lucy away from it as you can see. i think she was quite fascinated by the sugar crystal flower. aren't most little girls?
i hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
p.s. did anyone else watch cranford on pbs? so wonderful.

amy, you are the bestest friend ever. thank you so very much for baking those delicious birthday cakes. they were so delightful and yummy. i heard so many people raving about how incredibly tasty they were, especially the strawberry one.
thanks again.
what a wonderful friend you must be to have!
and every girl needs a few pink cakes on her b'day!
they look scrumptious!

making me hungry!
I love me some cake...those look awesome! As for Cranford... I know we've been TiVo'ing some Masterpiece stuff lately (They had a Jane Austen marathon the last couple of months) -- we may have gotten Cranford, but if not, I'll check it out! Yeah, I know, a guy who likes the period pieces...but what can I say, I do! ...but I also loved IRON MAN. :-)
looks like it turned out great. i think you need to frost my next strawberry cake; mine always looks so messy!
I'm searching for those recipes too! Please post them.
